Co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi of Mamelodi Sundowns has stated that the prognosis for one or two players' ability to recuperate in time for Saturday's Nedbank Cup final is not looking good. 

Two days after the club reported that they had suffered from a significant flu outbreak within the squad, the coach of Masandawana spoke to the media in advance of their Nedbank Cup final match against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday. The match was scheduled to go place. 

There were as many as 17 players who did not participate in Downs' 3-2 victory over Royal AM on Monday. A number of these players had been diagnosed with influenza. 

Ahead of the championship match on Saturday, Mngqithi stated that they are keeping their fingers crossed for good news from their medical staff in the hours leading up to their training session later in the day. 

He stated, "At this point we are not yet one hundred percent sure, but already on match day versus Royal AM a lot of player were showing signals that they are healing." "At this time we are not yet one hundred percent sure." 

"Yesterday, I met a few people who were coming here for the shoot; one or two of them were not looking very good; nonetheless, one hopes that when we hear the doctors' update shortly before training this afternoon, we will be able to comprehend exactly what we'll have [available] for the weekend." 

The match between Sundowns and Gallants will take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium at 18:00 on Saturday. Sundowns have already won the DStv Premiership title and the MTN8 trophy, so if they win this match, they will have a chance to complete the trifecta.
