Coach Kerr Promises To Get The Birds Flying High Again

Swallows mentor Dylan Kerr has pledged to get the mentality right from his players and cause them to accept they can win games.

Kerr, who was selected on Tuesday as the new Swallows mentor, supplanting Brandon Truter, assumed responsibility for their first instructional meeting yesterday.

He has distinguished the disposition and certainty as something he wants to promptly get right.

"To come to Swallows is a monstrous work and an enormous test and I'm anticipating it," Kerr told Sowetan yesterday.

"Last year they were drawing games, yet this season, they are losing games and the camaraderie is exceptionally low. So I want to come in and impart the certainty and belief.

"Your first instructional meeting will consistently be troublesome and I said to the players, there are a great deal of focuses to be played for and we want to begin winning quickly. Everything isn't lost.

"The players should begin putting stock in themselves and I will make them need to dominate matches again."

With Swallows at the foot of the DStv Premiership table with just three objectives scored up until now, Kerr conceded that there is a great deal of work that should be finished the club to get back to winning ways.

"We need to zero in on the guard, they have been yielding such a large number of objectives and we need to get it just before we begin chipping away at scoring," he said.

"At the day's end the main individuals who will dominate the match are the players, we can just get ready them and get the best out of them, however they need to go out there and deliver.

"The mentality from failures to victors needs to change and as I said there are loads of focuses accessible, how about we go for it."

Kerr's first task will be against Maritzburg United at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday, yet he will not be on the seat as he is as yet hanging tight for his work license, his associate Fani Madida will take charge.

"We have a game against Maritzburg coming on Saturday and we really want to begin winning that one, that will be intriguing. We don't need groups above us pulling endlessly, yet we simply need to focus on what Swallows can do and what we can offer that would be useful."
