Happy Jele is a player who was under siege.
Once the darling of the team, he was relegated to the bench during the tenure of Serbian coach Micho.
Many fans and analysts predicted that Jele's future at the club was done and dusted. But he shocked many when he rose like a phoenix reclaim his place in the team during the 2021/22 DStv Premier Soccer League.
In an exclusive interview, Jele said he never gave up even though his career seemingly flashed right in front of the club.
"I have a strong passion for Pirates and it has always been my boyhood. It was very tough not playing for the team and you would read in the media that Jele's time was up. But I never gave up. I continued pushing and eventually won my way back to the team," he said.
