Downs Terminates Contract Of Their Worst Signing Of The Decade || Reports

Due to the riches Mamelodi Sundowns have, they've the propensity to sign players based on minimal scouting, that is of course premised on the fact that a vaudeville of players have arrived at Chloorkop and failed to make the grade, there are so many such examples.

In 2015, Sundowns were alerted of a young defender cum-midfielder, Bangaly Soumahoro, at the time a 25-years old who was plying his trade at Ivory Coast giants Asec Mimosas, aand after sending their scouts to watch him in action, the club was convinced to negotiate for his transfer to Chloorkop, and they did.

But since his signing, 6 years have come and gone, and during that time the Brazilians won quite a number of titles, including a prestigious CAF Champions league title, Soumahoro can claim he played integral role during what was the most successful period during the club's history.

However, over the last few years, he role was restricted to been a bench warmer, and after he played only 313 minutes, which is equivalent to just 3 games, in the last three years, the club decided to cut its losses by terminating his contract.

Accroding to an exclusive report, Sumauhoro was shown the door by Sundowns many moons ago and he has even returned to his home country of Cote D'ivoire.

"Bangaly is no longer a Sundowns player. I believe he has returned back to his home country," the report said.

It is quite easy to understand why Sundowns didn't give the now 30-year old defender a dignified release, perhaps by releasing a statement to confirm his departure, because despite spending 6 years at the club he practically did nothing worth noting, and by judged by any measureble standards, he deserves to be top ranked at the list of the club's worst signings of recent times.

His 36 appearances in 6 years, averaging 6 per season on possibly more than R100K salary, makes him one the club's worst business if we are being honest.

Others would of course think differently, but one is supremely confident that many Sundowns fans would be happy that the club could now look to replace him with another player.

What do you make of Soumahoro's 6-year stint at Chloorkop. Do you agree that he is perhaps the club's worst signing of the last decade?
