Chiefs and Sundowns can't get enough of the talent youngster from Cape based club. The youngster was named after Manchester united Roy Keane. His parents grew up supporting Manchester united. He become the youngest player to sign for Stellenbosch fc first team at the age of 17 which was a historic moment for the team.
According to a source "Amakhosi" and Sundowns are closely monitoring the star player. Chiefs and Sundowns scouts were spotted at prestigious Engen knockout competition in Cape town over the weekend. Roy Keane Avontuur help his team to reach the semi-final. Avontuur(18) has been a talk of town at the prestigious tournament. Both teams are looking to lure the talented youngster to the their respective camp on a long term basis.
According to Siya crew they tried reaching out to the player's representative Ashley Rasool from Lion Sport Management however he didn't have time to reply he referred all inquiries to Stellenbosch fc. Avotuur previosly belong to Old Mutual Academy. He was snatched by Stellenbosch at the age of 17. He played for their development side but he was quickly promoted to the senior side. He featured 5 times for the senior team.
The 18 year old has really impressed at the tournament. He has grown and matured over short period of time.
Avontuur is versatile he can play as center forward and as winger as well. At tender age of 14 he received a call up for the under 17 national team. He was not scared of the bigger boys at age 14 instead he saw that as an opportunity. He saw himself as fitter and more faster than the bigger boys.
What makes Avontuur story so remarkable is that he comes from humble beginnings with limited resource. However signs have been there at an early age that he is really talented. He hails from Atlantis in western cape. Most of his friends left the sport they are now involved in crime. He chose to stick with soccer.
