Manchester United is looking to get back on track after a stalemate with current leaders Chelsea. The Red Devils are well aware that anything other than a win will compound their poor start to the season.
However, by examining Manchester United's official lineup, I was able to identify two tactical errors made by Carrick in the starting lineup for tonight's game.
1. He portrayed Cristiano Ronaldo:
Without disrespect to Ronaldo's name, matches like this do not require players who are incapable of contributing defensively. C Ronaldo is an excellent finisher, but he falls short in the defensive department. Playing Ronaldo against a team like Arsenal is a bad idea.
2. Replaced Maguire with Eric Baily:
After his performance against Chelsea, I believe Eric Baily has established himself as one of Manchester United's best defenders. Given Maguire's poor form this season, I believe Baily should have started the game ahead of Maguire.
