Former Chiefs player breaks his silence after his sudden exit from Naturena


When players leave their teams, most of them barely talk about what went wrong during their stints in a certain club. This is something that shouldn’t be so difficult for players to reveal as it might help others too. Also, it might help the fans know who’s in the wrong between their team and players. Itumeleng ‘Jomo’ Shopane spent his time within Chiefs' junior ranks and was seen as a promising player who was meant for great things. Shopane even earned himself caps as a junior international while at Chiefs. However, little did he know that his contract will be terminated by the Soweto giants before the July-August transfer window was closed. “I won the Shield Player of the Tournament and then while at Swallows I got into the Under-23 squad which went to Egypt and qualified for the Olympics, so I felt I was pushing for myself,” said Shopane talking to His sudden departure came as a shock to Shopane as he was still hoping to remain with Naturena and showcase his talent.

However, in the 2020/21 season, Shopane was left on the sidelines following picking up an injury that ended up costing him his spot at Naturena. “Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get a chance at all at Chiefs both before I went on loan and after I returned.
