It’s ideal for people that are already in power to share their honest opinions on certain matters within their line of work. There’s nothing wrong with helping other people that you might feel don’t have the same power in the game as you do. Some sort of equality is also needed in football, in terms of genders and their roles within the Premier Soccer League. Hence the AmaZulu FC CEO Sinenjabulo Zungu feels that the growth of women in leadership should be made a norm. Also, the PSL has seen several phenomenal women leading by example which shows that they’re more ready to be part of the core management of different associations with football.

Usuthu wants to be at the forefront of it all, in terms of working on this women empowerment to be a trend. Already there are the likes of Mato Madlala who’s the acting CEO of the league and also, owns the Lamontville Golden Arrows FC. Then there’s Jessica Motaung heading the marketing department at Kaizer Chiefs and Shawn Mkhize who’s the owner of Royal AM. These are just a few women that have made an immense change within their positions. However, there’s still a long way for many women to dive into football leadership, as it is a male-dominated space. Zungu has stated that women bring new elements within sports that haven’t been seen or done. Hence they’re needed to be given massive roles within football. “I think it is very important to have more women representatives in the field that is dominated by men. More specific football, women come with something different and how they interact with society,” said MaZungu talking to the media.

Furthermore, MaZungu stated that women have been hard at work within football and they deserve all the success they’ve achieved. This got to show that women have what it takes to be part of the leadership that makes up football in Mzansi. “Women in football have done a lot in the country, without mentioning names, I feel they’ve contributed a lot. I’m new in this space and I’ve been here for a year but I would like to see it grow,” said MaZungu talking to the media.
