Maritzburg United Hopes to Maintain a Winning Streak

Ernst Middendorp's side Maritzburg United started the league on a very bad note as they lost two league games consecutively as they were beaten 2-1 by their KZN rivals Golden Arrows in their league opening match, and then they went on to be beaten at home by Sekhukhune United by 2-0. This was an obvious poor start from the KZN side especially since they wanted to avoid their previous errors as they were close to being relegated last season, and the appointment of Ernst Middendorp helped them out to regain form in the league.

Maritzburg United recently found their winning streak after they won 1-0 against Baroka FC as they played away from home. The victory against the Limpopo based side gave moral support to the Middendorp and his boys and as they are scheduled to play against Marumo Gallants later today, they will be hoping to at least gain a winning streak starting against Marumo Gallants who themselves are determined for a league victory as they are currently occupying the bottom of the table.

30 year old Maritzburg United defender Ryan Rae spoke confidently about his side and he also revealed that winning against Baroka FC did something positive to them in the team, and this gave them courage to aim for back to back wins in the DStv Premiership encounter. Winning against Baroka FC is never an easy thing but they managed to do it with hard work and by putting more work in the field of play, and Richard Zumah's goal was enough to seal them the victory they wanted.

Richard Rae was among a pack of players that saw how hard it was for them to taste relegation and this is something they want to avoid this season as they want to win as many games as possibly this early. But then things will not be as easy as Rae and the rest of the Maritzburg United team hope things will turn out to be, Marumo Gallants will be travelling to Maritzburg as a motivated team as they have recently won their CAF Confederations cup match.
