Breaking: Silva to Chelsea

Chelsea have a history on not buying older players, but with a disgrace of a backline which let in more goals than any of the other teams in the top 10, getting Tiago Silva on a free transfer would be a job well done.

Numerous reports in the UK including: Metro, Telegraph and Football.london amongst others are reporting his most likely destination to be Stamford bridge with the Telegraph having confirmed that the PSG center back has been offered to Chelsea once his contract is over.

Yes he is 35-years-old and would at best be a short term solution but it will allow Chelsea to focus on other areas that needs to be strengthened, it will also allow Chelsea the time to raise more funds for a long term solution

Tiago does lack pace but if paired with a much quicker center back, his Experience and class on the ball would bring a sense of togetherness and calmness to the back line.

With class center backs being very few and far between, it would make much sense should Chelsea bring him in to help rally the back line and bring stability to a very nervy and volatile defence.

Tiago Silva will be ending a trophy filled 8 year stay with PSG after their run in the UEFA Champions League, and will hope to bow out with Europe's Elite Trophy added to his list of achievements

Should Chelsea choose Tiago silva? Or should they make getting long term replacements a priority in this transfer window?
