'This story was made up by the boys who were arrested' - Former Chiefs Star On Slain Ex Teammate

We've seen many tragedies when it comes to football with current and former players. Footballers have always had the reputation of being bad boys, however the act has been cleaned up in recent times. The standard of professional football was improved by the PSL and this meant less of the scandals related to drugs and alcohol. A loss of life is always tragic regardless of which teams one supports which is important.

This star echoed for Kaizer Chiefs in the early 2000s and went to cement a little of status for himself. He was part of the crop of players alongside the likes of Jabu Mahlangu and Junior Khanye. He was just as shattered to hear about the death of his former teammate as the rest of the public. This hit closer to home for him and he decided to share his thoughts on the entire ordeal.

Isaac Mabotsa sat down for an interview with Thabiso Mosia on SAFMRADIO as he spoke about the passing of Lucky Maselesele. He shared his thoughts on his former Kaizer Chiefs teammates and recent reports claiming that he attacked by the mob after he was allegedly caught stealing cables.

"I was also shocked to hear that he was a cable thief. That's not true. That's not the Maselesele I knew. This story was made up by the boys who were arrested. To be honest, Maselesele was not a thief. He knew the people who killed him, these were his friends"

He went on to shut down the allegations as he claimed that this goes against what he knows about his former teammate. He shared that he had managed to clean up his act and was actually an owner of a store in the township of Alexandra which sold clothes and sneakers. Mabotsa certainly didn't but it at all as he shared that he believes that a cover up is in action after arrests were made.

"Lucky was running a shop here in Alex. He was selling sneakers and clothes. Lucky had his demons in the past but he was over it. He was no longer on those things. Maybe he's being judged because of his past, but he was a changed man. He was trying to get his life together"
