Prior to the start of the current season, it was widely reported that Orlando Pirates are interested in signing Cape Town City star Taariq Fielies, but the move didn't materialised. It will be more difficult for the Buccaneers to get him as he signs a new contract with the Cape Town-based outfit.
The club announced this morning on Twitter that they have renewed the contract of Fielies. Tara, as he is affectionately known, extends his contract with the Citizens until June 2025.
To put it into perspective, if the Buccaneers are serious about their intentions to lure Fielies away from Cape Town City, they will have to dig deeper into their pockets as the chairman John Comitis won't sell him at a cheaper price.
The 28-year-old Fielies has developed into one of the finest ball-playing centre-back in the Premier Soccer League since being roped in by the Citizens from then second-tier side Milano in July 2017.
