BREAKING: Mohamed Salah ends speculation, signs new Liverpool contract

On Friday, reports surfaced that Mohamed Salah had signed a new contract with Liverpool that would keep him there through 2025. With the final year of his previous contract approaching, negotiations between Liverpool and Salah, 30, broke down. Salah has scored 156 goals in 254 games for Liverpool.

But after signing on the dotted line, the Egypt attacker stated he had his sights set on additional hardware at Anfield. I'm in fantastic shape and ready to help the club bring home hardware. Salah gushed about the day's events on Liverpool's official website.

"I suppose renewal takes a little bit of time, but at this point, everything is done so we can focus on what's next."

Since joining the team in 2017 from Roma, Salah has been an integral part of Jurgen Klopp's lineup, making them perennial title contenders in both the domestic and European arenas.

He was the club's leading scorer in their 2020 Premier League championship, their first after 30 years of futility, and in the 2019 Champions League final victory over Tottenham. Last year, MOHAMED SALAH led all scorers with 31 goals.

After leading Klopp's team to the brink of a historic quadruple with 31 goals last season, Salah was named Premier League player of the year by both players and football writers.

Liverpool won the League Cup and the FA Cup, however they lost the Premier League title to Manchester City by one point and the Champions League title game to Real Madrid by a score of 1-CUP

I think you can see the team was always going (upwards) in the last five or six years," Salah said.

We almost won four trophies last year, but two of them were lost in the final week of the season.

To paraphrase, "I believe we are in an excellent position to fight for everything. We also have several fresh recruits joining the team.

We need to keep up the hard work, have a clear goal in mind, maintain an optimistic outlook, and take another run at accomplishing everything.

The retention of Salah is a huge boost for Liverpool's sustained success under Klopp, who extended his contract in April to keep him as manager until 2026.

Sadio Mane, who spent six years with Liverpool, left for Bayern Munich this summer.

However, the loss has been mitigated by the signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica for a club record £85 million.
