Manchester City Dent Chelsea Title Hopes

This was going to be a tough game for Pep Guardiola since his side needed the win to leapfrog Chelsea in the league standings. Chelsea is a very formidable side and I would think that they were favourites. This match was played in Chelsea's home ground of Stamford Bridge. A solitary goal by Gabriel Jesus which was slightly deflected went well beyond the reach of Mendy in the Chelsea goal. It was just what Man City needed to boost their confidence. In the 62nd minute, Lukaku taught he found the equalizer but it was ruled offside. Havertz was well offside for the goal celebration was short lived. Man City had instances where they could've wrapped up the game but Mendy was at his best to stop the attack of Man City. Jack Grealish had a good game and came close on a few occasion's to make the scoreline bigger. Timo Werner and Lukaku were upfront for Chelsea but didn't have much effect on the Man City goal. As it stands, the top four teams in the English premier league are sitting on 13 points. Man City jumped from fifth to second place. They are currently above the team they beat, Chelsea, who are in third position. Man City has a better goal difference than Chelsea. Man United dropped to fourth position after their 1-0 loss to Aston Villa. Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty for United. Liverpool are in top position on the log with a match in hand. Man City fans will be celebrating till the wee hours of the morning. As for Chelsea, it's another wake up call. There's always a lesson to be learnt whether you win, lose or draw. Constructive criticism can be a learning curb for Chelsea. They will have to push harder is they want to win the league.
