[OPINION] Liverpool's Win Wasn't Convincing

Jurgen Klopp used a euphemism when he claimed it wasn't Liverpool's greatest performance. To borrow a word he used earlier this season, he may have called the 1-0 triumph over West Ham as a "dirty win." Despite the absence of Declan Rice, West Ham generated far too many clear-cut opportunities for Klopp's comfort, the finest of which went to Manuel Lanzini and Michail Antonio.

Klopp has been urged to stay at Liverpool beyond 2024 by former Reds striker Owen

While Liverpool had their chances as well, you have to wonder if they've lost some of their sharpness at the moment. Or, more precisely, if it's something they can't bring out every game.

You might congratulate them on their determination and toughness in the face of hardship, which is commendable. However, they haven't been systematically crushing opponents game after game as they did in recent seasons. It hasn't slowed them down in terms of results (11 victories in their last 12 across all competitions, 12-for-12 if you include the shootout against Chelsea), but they've had to rely on guts and grit more than usual in recent weeks (Norwich, Burnley and Leicester in the Premier League, plus Inter Milan in the Champions League).
