Thabiso Kutumela scored his first goal for Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend against TS Galaxy in a convincing three (3) nil (0) win. TS Galaxy was able to hold of Mamelodi Sundowns very well in the first half of the game. The half time team talks and tactics from the three coaching masters at Mamelodi Sundowns change the whole emphasis of the game. Even though TS Galaxy did not offer much going forward the game was deadlocked inside the first half of the match.
Mamelodi Sundowns rung in the changes in the second half of the match and they were duly rewarded for their efforts, as Musa Lebusa was able to find the back from a close range after a great Lyle Lakay free kick was carried away by the goalkeeper, who failed to deal with the ball convincingly. Lebusa was returning to the team after his injury lay off. Sundowns doubled the lead through talisman Peter Shalulile after he was perfectly set up by captain Musa Lebusa with a deadly pass after a very good interception, TS Galaxy defense napping, Mamelodi Sundowns two goals up.
The third goal came from new signing Thabiso Kutumela who celebrated his goal with his legendary signature celebration, the dancing cobra. The celebration is largely remembered by most Kaizer Chiefs supporters who witnessed Kutumela and Moseamedi perform the celebration on more than two occasions against their team back in 2019/2020 season. Maritzburg United was the first only team to collect four points against Kaizer Chiefs during that season, with Thabiso Kutumela and Judas Moseamedi fixing the nation.
Thabiso Kutumela has managed to revive his football career at Maritzburg United before he made the move to join Mamelodi Sundowns. Thabiso Kutumela was a hot prospect when he joined Orlando Pirates from Baroka. A stiff competition for places in the Orlando Pirates team forced Kutumela out on a loan before eventually making it a permanent move to Maritzburg United. Kutumela was in red hot form last season as he was able to find the back of the net on more than twelve occasions last season. Mamelodi Sundowns were impressed and they went on to get their man.
