When Zambian international Justin Shonga was offloaded by Orlando Pirates, many fans expressed their dismay.
Some suggested that he had not been given a fair chance to prove himself.
But Shonga has now poured cold water on all the cheap talk stating that he was given an equal opportunity to redeem himself by the Soweto giants.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Shonga revealed that the change of the coaches style of playing changed a lot.
"I was given a fair chance at Pirates and I really enjoyed it there. Pirates is my first home and they transformed me into the player that I am today. For that I will forever be grateful.
"Coaches have got different styles of play. The way that Micho wanted us to play was a way in which we went everywhere together. So immediately when the coach left, everything changed. Although it was the same philosophy, things changed so quickly. Like me and Augustine struggled to get game time," he said.
Shonga went on to reveal that his biggest regret was not moving to Europe when the opportunity had presented itself.
He had been linked with a move to a European club before his time at Pirates came to an end. But nothing materialized as he saw himself falling by the wayside.
Shonga is now at Cape Town City were he is yet to rediscover his goal scoring prowess.
