Orlando Pirates Reserves suffered a 3-1 loss against the SuperSport United Reserves at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday, 10 October 2021.
Pirates XI: Sithole, Kabini, Ralenkoane, Seemela, Mndebele, Spandeel, Makambi (Sithole 73’), Ndaba (Manaka 73’), Mitchell (Mdunge 52’), Monyane, Radiopane (Nkota 52’).
Orlando Pirates youngsters went into the clash with high hopes of getting the forth victory after three DSTV Diski Challenge victories on the trot while in the same time, SuperSport United had failed to collect three points.
In the opening exchanges Pirates showed upper hand and appeared as if the same pattern would continue as they set up camp in the half of SuperSport and dominated possession in the first 30 minutes of the game.
However, that changed quickly as Matsatsa hit back with attacks of their own soon after Sibusiso Maziko tapped in after being played in by Tenda Matodzi in the 33rd minute and were rewarded.
The next goal came in the 40th minute through Oswin Appollis who utilized a free-kick past Elson Sithole.
United grew in confidence having capitalised on errors from Sithole and finished the first half with 3-0 score.
The Buccaneers pressed on in the second half and Cassius Spandiel pulled one back to make it 3-1 as he headed in a fine cross from Lungile Makambi.
In the end the score remained 3-1 with the Buccaneers Reserve lossing to Matsatsa and failing to grab their forth win in a row.
