South Africa is a football loving nation, however Bafana Bafana hasn't quite lived up to the expectations I'm recent times. The national team has been having issues for decades, however there were some plans that were made to turn the situation. The time has arrived but we are still far from that we had to achieve more especially after missing out on the 2022 Qatar World Cup and the AFCON.
This coach has been around South African football for decades and he is responsible for some of the triumphs we've enjoyed as a country. He started of his coaching career in the early 90s and went on to manage some kf the biggest teams in the country. He is an experienced campaigner and definitely knows the ins and outs of South African footballer and more importantly the players. He has shared his wish to coach Bafana Bafana at some point.
Owen Da Gama sat down for an interview with Thabiso Mosia on SAFMRADIO. He shared his thoughts on Vision 2022 which was set out by SAFA. Now that the time has come, he revealed that since is clear that the vision wasn't perfectly executed as he criticized the federation for how they handled things.
"Vision 2022 was a good document but it was never implemented. Even those of us who were in the system at the time were not asked for input. I'll just say the leadership of SAFA was a joke, it was a actually a joke"- Owen Da Gama on #SAFMSportOn
He shared that SAFA didn't consult with people like himself to assist in making bison 2022 a success. He took a dig at the leadership and went to call it a joke. He is clearly passionate about South African football and has the best interests at heart. He can definitely make an amazing coach for Bafana Bafana in the future as he also enjoys working with young talent. He has been vocal over the years about the collapse of scouting and development at grassroots level.
