After a controversial penalty that Jelly Chavani and his assistants awarded Kaizer Chiefs when they were playing against AmaZulu on Saturday the 2nd October 2021, the former PSL Referee of Year has been punished by the referee's reveiw Committee after their meeting which was held during the week.
News emerging suggests that the Limpopo born referee who has been suspended for four weeks and will be a companies by those he was working with on that unfortunate day.
According to Soccer Laduma, Chavani and his entire team will be out in the colc for the next four weeks because of the dubious penalty they awarded Chiefs when they were playing against AmaZulu.
"According to high level sources, the match officials responsible for the dubious penalty decision in the match between AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs have been punished after the review committee met this week. Information reaching the Siya crew is that both match officials have been suspended for a period of four weeks as their embarrassing call changed the outcome of the game. The Siya crew also understands that the duo will not be allowed to be anywhere near a high-profile game for another two weeks, meaning they are only likely to be appointed for matches in the lower divisions or the reserve League," the publication reports.
Chavani is no stranger whne it comes to being suspended, he was previously suspended after he offciated the game between Swallows FC and Orlando Pirates, he denied Pirates a clear penalty and he was suspended after that incident he has now been suspended once again for another penalty incident, this time, he wrongfully awarded a penalty.
In addition to the punishment, it is ralso reported that the officials will not be allowed to officiate big games anytime soon, after serving their suspension, they will be demoted and only officiate lower division games, that is the GladAfrica Championship and the DStv Diski Challenge games.
