Zungu will spend the 2022–23 season on loan at Richards Bay FC, where he will have the opportunity to resurrect his career, Pirates said last month.

I'm glad to be back home because I've been away for a while and I'm here to start over and show off my talent. I'm also glad to be back home because I love playing football, Zungu told the media.

This is where it all began; I traveled to AmaZulu, Stellenbosch, and Orlando Pirates to gain more experience, but despite how much I learned, I'm here to start over and act like a complete novice As a player, you have to be strong, and just because I didn't play as many games there as I had hoped didn't mean I wasn't appreciated. I feel like it was time for me to join the Orlando Pirates; it was God's plan, and I don't regret it.

I want to play football to regain my confidence and make sure I contribute to the team's success, the player said. I also want to play for the national team.

Despite the fact that his time with the Pirates didn't go as planned, Zungu sent a heartfelt statement to the team, thanking Dr Irvin Khoza in particular for his love and support during trying times.

I would like to thank Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza for his love and support while I was part of the staff, players, and everyone else at the club adored me, and I still do.
