Pitso Sends Clear Message After CAFCL Final Defeat

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has sent a clear message to the leaders in African football, making sarcastic remarks about the “neutral venue” of the CAF Champions League final.

The South African and his side passed up the opportunity to lift their third progressive CAF Champions League title in the wake of going down 2-0 to Wydad Athletic Club at their home ground at the Stade Mohamed V in Morocco.

Mosimane's side overwhelmed a large portion of the belonging however Wydad scored the objectives before an elated home group, leaving Mosimane to some degree snide in his post-match public interview

"We got our opportunities, Percy had his one-on-one with the goalkeeper. That's what assuming he scored, it would've been unique," he said after the match.

"[Mohamed] Sherif got an opportunity to score. Assuming that he scores, it's unique.

"What I'm cheerful about, we came here and we played football and in football, you can never say that the better group lost in light of the fact that the one that wins is the one that is a decent group.

"However, we came here to an impartial scene with 50-50 allies sharing the arena and that is essential for the football. I think everyone behind the choice got what he needed.

"We continue on."

It was just Mosimane's third-ever last loss in the wake of losing to the now-ancient Bidvest Wits in the 2016 MTN8 last and losing the Egyptian Super Cup to Tala'ea El Gaish on punishments in September 2021.
