Will Orlando Pirates Season Be Regarded As A Failure?

Orlando Pirates face a tricky test on Saturday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium when they lock horns with The Chilli Boys Chippa United.

The Buccaneers have struggled with consistency more than anything this season. Winning two matches in a row have been hard for Josef Zinnbauer's men. But as of late, they seem to be getting better. They won their last match against Bloemfontein Celtic. It was a hard fought victory over a strong side but Fortune Makaringe's long range effort was enough for the Sea Robbers to walk away with all points.

But as they prepare to face Chippa United, they will look at their previous record this season after a victory. Chances are, they will either draw or lose.

The season is getting late for Orlando Pirates. They might be occipying third place, but Cape Town City, Swallows and Golden Arrows have an advantage over The Buccaneers.

If these teams get positive results from their games in hand, Pirates will fall as far as 6th. Pirates fans will be fuming if they finish the season at 6th place. They might have won the MTN8 already this season, but a 6th finish on the DStv Premiership log will be considered as a failure.

However, winning the Caf Confedations Cup might change things. Because if they finish 6th on the log but manage to win the Caf Confederations Cup, they will automatically qualify for the Champions League.
