The Team That Started Sundowns' Dominance, Where Are They Now? Then and Now.

Mamelodi Sundowns' 2013–14 Premiership victory put a stop to their six-year losing streak. They later won six more league championships. Where are they now? Soccer Laduma examines the 2014 team that launched the club's dominance in SA's top division.

Sundowns has won a total of seven league titles, five of which they won consecutively, since Pitso Mosimae became the first black coach to win the Premiership title in 2014 during the Premier Soccer League (PSL) era. The most recent of these titles was the 2021/22 DStv Premiership.

Modise, Teko. He joined Cape Town City after leaving Sundowns in 2017 and retired there in 2019.

Sangweni Thamsanqa. He played for several teams after leaving Sundowns in 2017, including Orlando Pirates and Chippa United. Now he has no club.

Elisabeth Pelembe. He left Sundowns and later played for Bivdest Wits before joining Royal AM.

Hello Kekana. He only recently made his football retirement official.

Mashego Katlego Prior to his retirement in 2018, he played for Swallows and Chippa United after leaving Sundowns in 2016.

Ramagalela, Rodney. In 2016, the striker left Sundowns. Later, he played for Black Leopards and Polokwane City. Now he has no club.

Langerman Tebogo In 2021, he joined Swallows after leaving Sundowns. Now he has no club.

John Laffor. In 2020, he left Sundowns and joined Chippa United. But he no longer has a club.

Shahid Sumalia After leaving Mamelodi Sundowns in 2015, the Ghanaian defender is currently competing for Muaither SC in Qatar.

Mphela Katlego. Prior to his retirement in 2019, he played for teams like Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United after leaving Sundowns in 2014.

Malajila, Cuthbert. He relocated in 2019 and joined Black Leopards and TTM to play in Limpopo. He manages a football academy in Zimbabwe while being without a club.

Mphahlele Ramahlwe. He left Mamelodi Sundowns and joined Kaizer Chiefs, a team he departed in June of 2022. AmaZulu has assessed him.

William Arendse The defender left Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020, and he hasn't found a new team since.

Zungu Bongani. In 2016, the midfielder left Sundowns, and he is currently available for hire.

Moon, Bryce. The former international for Bafana Bafana has since retired.

Schut, Alje He retired in 2015 after helping Mamelodi Sundowns win the 2013–14 Absa Premiership.

Masenamela, punch. He last played for Mbabane Highlanders in 2015 after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mashaba, Mzikayise. He played for Chippa United, Bidvest Wits, and Free State Stars after leaving Sundowns in 2017. He lacks a club.before moving to join African juggernaut Al Ahly in 2020, Mosimane developed a potent Sundowns team, winning the 2016 CAF Champions League, CAF Super Cup, and various cup events.

Since Mosimane was replaced as co-coaches by Manqoba Mngqithi and Rhulani Mokwena, the Tshwane giants have been unbeatable.
