Opinion - Former Ajax Cape Town star could replace Hlompho Kekana at Mamelodi Sundowns?

This week has been quite an emotional week for current Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana as well at the club in more ways than one to say the least

And that is because this past week Mamelodi Sundowns announced that Hlompho Kekana after spending close to ten years or so with the club will be leaving at the end of this current season

Then again such an announcement didn't come as a surprise to many people as this has been a situation that has been brewing underneath the works for probably some time now as Hlompho Kekana has been frustrated at not playing as much

Time and time again the Mamelodi Sundowns top boss Rhulani Mokwena has had to the face the media to shed some light on the situation on whether or not Hlompho Kekana would leave or stay at the club

And to his credit Rhulani Mokwena always managed to remain coy on the situation not revealing much or giving much away and always expressing his admiration for Hlompho Kekana as a professional and as a player

As well Hlompho Kekana did not cause that much of a stir himself in terms expressing his frustrations over a lack of game time at the club and stayed true to the same values that made him such a great player and captain for Mamelodi Sundowns

But then again if there is a club in South African Football that can deal with the departure of such an important player and dressing room figure it is indeed Mamelodi Sundowns as they have unlimited resources to do so

Although replacing a player like Hlompho Kekana does not necessarily mean spending a lot of money but it requires patience, discipline, development, as well as determination, quality as well

Because a year ago Mamelodi Sundowns acquired the services of a very bright young player who plays in the exact same position as Hlompho Kekana and also has similar qualities as him as well

And that particular player is of course Grant Margeman who joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Ajax Cape Town last season

Since his arrival though at Mamelodi Sundowns things have not been as easy for Grant Margeman after he was shipped out on loan at the beginning of this season to Moroka Swallows

And for all it is worth going into the future Grant Margeman has all the makings of a future Mamelodi Sundowns star and potential legend that is of course if he isn't pinched by an overseas based club
