Sundowns star linked with a move to Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs have shown in the past that they don’t mind going after Mamelodi Sundowns stars as they’re able to table mouth-watering offers that cannot be easily refused. Chiefs signed the famous “CBD” — Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly who had a great time at Chloorkop and won numerous trophies. Now, it has been reported that Amakhosi are trying to get services of Sibusiso Vilakzi from the Brazilians ahead of the January transfer window. This is interesting since Vilakazi has struggled to make it to the starting eleven in the past couple of seasons. Also, the injuries have been keeping him on the sidelines which isn’t helping his football career.

However, the Glamour Boys might re-ignite their interests on the Bafana Bafana international, as they’re looking for an incredible attacker at Naturena. In the previous transfer window Chiefs didn’t focus on their attack, as they mostly signed defenders and midfielders. Nevertheless, Amakhosi are planning as they want to strengthen their squad once again and they’re hoping Vilakazi will be able to jump ships. Vilakazi has only managed to make five appearances at Downs this season and the tough competition within the club isn’t making it easier for him to get game time. Downs beat Chiefs in getting the signature of Vilakazi back in 2016 when he was still part of Bidvest Wits. Also, there were reports at that time about him moving abroad due to numerous interests from clubs, but that didn’t materialise.

Nevertheless, Vilakazi isn’t getting any younger and needs to be on the pitch more often as he has immense talent to eliminate players due to his skills and then score goals. By the looks of things, the Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter is reportedly interested in Vilakazi’s services. “According to well-placed sources, there is talk within the Amakhosi corridors that the club could make an approach for the player [Vilakazi], as Stuart Baxter continues to rebuild the side,” said a source speaking to Soccer Laduma.
