Kaizer Chiefs has experienced a disappointed form as of late. The Glamor Boys have lost all of their last 3 matches to Orlando Pirates, Richards Bay FC and AmaZulu. This is definitely is definitely a huge problem for a team such as Amakhosi. They are one of the biggest teams in the country and the players and technical staff are feeling the heat from the millions of fans who have endured a lot of heartbreak over the past month. Many have called for the axing of Gavin Hunt while shared that Bobby Motaung is responsible for the current state of affairs at Naturena.
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates legend Marks Maponyane sat down for an interview with Thabiso Mosia on SA-Fm on as he discussed the burning issues happening in football. Maponyane shared his comments on his former side and the world going around that Bobby Motaung is to blame for the current result. Amakhosi have weathered the storm and the transfer ban has been lifted, meaning that they will be able to sign players in the upcoming window.
" I don't think Bobby is the big elephant in the room.I know supporters are not happy. But when you're given the Chiefs jersey as a player, you have to make the most of it.Very few people are given this privilege. They must appreciate it,it boils down to gratitude"-Marks Maponyanee
His shared that Bobby Motaung is not problem, however his statements seems like it was directed at the players as he shared that it takes privilege to wear the Kaizer Chiefs jersey. He shared that gratitude is important, perhaps something the current crop lacks?
"We can't just blame Khune for the mistakes. There's a goalkeeping crisis at Chiefs. We saw Akpeyi blunder against Richards Bay. Then Khune. Do you call Bvuma now? I also think there's a problem with the defenders" - Marks Maponyane
He went on to share that Itumeleng Khune isn't to blame for the results as he stated that there is goalkeeping crisis at Kaizer Chiefs references the error Daniel Akpeyi made against Richards Bay FC. He went to say that according to his observations, Amakhosi have a problem with the defense. He remained noble as he attempted to dissect the situation at his former club.
South Africans reacted to the interview on social media, take a look at some of the replies from Twitter below :
Fully agree with Marks on Bobby & I've always believed that KChiefs needs a structural change altogether, in particular from the management side. Historically, the club changed Team managers with each decade it entered but recently this hasn't been the case.
7hI respect the legend's views @MarksMaponyane about Bobby @ThabisoMosia but the Eastein decision when we were playing a nedbank final, Papi Zothwane, Decks decision which is why we can't buy players, Maluleka going to Pretoria at a critical phase, his arrogance towards the fans

So vele losing to lower League teams isn't a new thing in that FC...It happens during Marks Maponyane's time

I enjoyed the show Thabiso specially the last interview with Mr Maponyane. I'm deeply hurt about the situation at Chiefs but "IKhosi alipheli umoya"

02-19 06:32:36Maponyane is correct....I'm a pirates supporter but I have said this after the game that Khune was not wrong this time, all the defenders were inside the ball post leaving three players unmarked, even if he didn't come out they were going to score because they were left alone by defenders.Defenders are to blame this time

02-19 08:02:58I partly concur with what Marks Maponyane has said about the state of affairs at Kaizer Chiefs in that the problem there is defense and goal keeper crisis. However I don't concur in terms of Bobby not being a problem, What about Bobby's involvement in recruitment drive at Kaizer Chiefs???? What about his glaring arrogance on Supporters, citing that Kaizer Chiefs is family business and that he was not voted into that position as a political party. I mean the kind of players he is bringing on board are mediocre players, even the bench is very thin when u look at it. I fully agree with Steve Khompela's views when he cited that u can't expect good harvest when u the seed u planted is bad in the field. U can change the farmer but if the seed is intact u are just wasting ur time in terms of product.
