The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed the passing of Premier Soccer League (PSL) assistant referee Shaun Olive this morning. Olive was involved in a fatal car accident this week and was taken to hospital but has now succumbed to his injuries. He was named the Assistant Referee of the Season last season for his outstanding refereeing in PSL and cup games.

Condolences are pouring in from the football fraternity and Olive peers who worked with him in the game. PSL has confirmed that a moment of silence in his honour would be observed before today's final between TTM and Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup, the same shall happen in the DSTV Premiership, Diski Challenge and GladAfrica games.
