Chiefs star breaks his silence about his injury

Kaizer Chiefs have had their fair share of injuries thus far in the current 2021/22 season. Even though many injuries occurred in the past campaign but they’ve even carried to the new season. Some players haven’t even played their official matches under their head coach Stuart Baxter in this new season. It makes you wonder what will Chiefs look like when all their players are back from injury. Amakhosi are set to battle it out against the deadly Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership encounter next weekend and their midfielder Lebogang Manyama was spoken about his eagerness to get back in action.

Even though he has missed the start of the new season, Manyama feels that he will contribute immensely at Naturena as soon as he’s recovered from his injury. The former Ajax Cape Town player picked up a knee injury ahead of the last season’s CAF Champions League historic final against Al Ahly, whereby the Soweto giants were whipped by 3-0 by the Egyptian giants. He was able to finish as the club’s top goal scorer last season with seven goals. Manyama had a better 2020/21 season than most Chiefs players as he was a stand-out towards the end of the campaign. As he made sure that Amakhosi finish in the top eight and didn’t make it to the relegation play-offs.

Manyama has stated that he’s back in training, however, still working with the Chiefs physio David Milner to make sure that he’s fully recovered from the injury. He’s working on his full fitness, before getting into contact with the rest of the team during training sessions. The lanky midfielder-turned striker feels that he’s getting there even though there are still some pains. “I’ve been back training on the side, obviously, with the physio, because I couldn’t really get into contact also, because it’s also a mental thing to go back and get stuck in with the guys. So I’m just going in gradually, there are reasons for the past two weeks, I’ve been there as an extra man. But yesterday, I had a full session, obviously, still a bit of pain,” said Manyama talking to iDiski Times.
