The Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission was put in place to help in the fight against all forms of corruption in Zimbabwe. Yesterday, it was a great job done by the ZACC that will make Zimbabweans proud at a time the world was celebrating World Anti Corruption day ,hence the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission celebrating it in style.
This after the Commission used the twitter channel to share that there was legal history that was made in Zimbabwe on the 9th of December 2020 in the anti-corruption fight. They expressed how proud they were in their victory as ZACC, a case that was argued on their behalf by the NPA.
The Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission highlighted that they had won their first ever asset forfeiture in terms of the brand new Unexplained wealth order provisions of the Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Ammendment Act yesterday.
The Commission advised via its twitter channel that a Mabvazuva Harare house that is worth US$100 000 that was purchased by a former Parirenyatwa Hospital Stores Control officer Russell Mwenye was forfeited.
Its heard that he bought the house from the proceeds of a corrupt tender that was awarded to his company. This order to forfeit the house came as victory for Zimbabwe as it is fighting against corruption that has crippled economic growth of that country. The court order is reported to have been given by Justice Chikowero.
