Pirates Coach In Defence Of Bucs’ Leading Striker.

Coach Jose Riveiro of the Orlando Pirates has defended striker Kwame Peprah after he made his debut in the team's defeat to Chippa United.

Peprah played for 60 minutes before being replaced by Bienvenu Eva Nga as the Soweto giants attempted unsuccessfully to penetrate the Chilli Boys' defense. Peprah, who finished his first season with Bucs as the team's joint-top goal scorer with nine goals, had played for Bucs since the start of the season.

The Ghanaian forward was an unused substitute in the previous match against Stellenbosch FC last Wednesday, as Eva Nga was picked to start.

The coach was satisfied with the player's effort rate and defended him for his performance, despite some Pirates fans appearing to be less than pleased with the 21-year-performance.

"Like with everyone else, I won't single out Peprah because he was the one who played today's 60-minute game. Ten additional players shared the field with him, and many of them had scoring opportunities—not all of them did. Peprah is in the starting eleven because of his success. In a press conference, the coach remarked, "He has increased his level of confidence. However, as I previously stated, scoring goals is really difficult and not simple.
