Cape Town City are set to rescue Kermit Erasmus from Mamelodi Sundowns?

"There are few clubs who have shown interest in the 32-year-old, but his heart is in the mother city,"

Sources close to the situation have indicated that Mamelodi Sundowns star striker Kermit Erasmus is keen on returning to his former club Cape Town City who are also thought to be interested in bringing him back to the club

When Kermit Erasmus signed for Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020 it could have been seen as a match made in heaven at the time after the Brazilians had just won the treble and he also had an impressive domestic season himself before that

As Kermit Erasmus was also stregthening a team that was already a winning machine as he joined the club in the same transfer window as Peter Shalulile and won the league title in his first season at the club too

Although throughout his time at Mamelodi Sundowns Kermit Erasmus has been slightly on and off as well as hot and cold after struggling to solidify himself in the club's first and starting IX on a regular basis

Which has been confusing and astonishing considering the kind of player that Kermit Erasmus is and the qualities that he brings to the team when he plays particularly his venomous and precision finishing

Although it just hasn't and wasn't meant to be as during his second season at the club Kermit Erasmus was a bit part player after Mamelodi Sundowns picked up yet another treble in the space of three seasons as well

And with Mamelodi Sundowns adding Abubeker Nasser to their ranks that raises further question marks about the future of Kermit Erasmus at the club which explains why he has been heavily linked with a return to Cape Town City

Where he would hope to revive his career and fulfill his ambition of finally scoring 30 goals in a single season in the DSTV Premiership
