Stadium Cost R15m To Be Built- Municipality must answer

Social Media reacted with shock when the Enoch Mgijima local municipality unveiled the so called state of the art sporting facility that supposedly cost R15 million and uploaded the pictures on social media which had since gone viral.

The facility has no ablution facilities or electricity. The grass has faded paint and there are metal seating for spectators. Even the ribbon cutting ceremony was a cheap show with government officials shown cutting the red and white cordon tape with a pair of scissors to open up the stadium.

East Cape MEC for co-operative governance Xolile Nqatha has called for an immediate explanation from the Enoch Mgijima local municipality. The municipality is expected to deliver a report explaining what was done at the stadium.

The MEC has expressed concern and wants answers. A report is expected to be handed over to her next week.

The R15 million pricetag comes as a shock to many who saw the substandard sports stadium.
