Stuart Baxter, the former head coach of South Africa's Kaizer Chiefs, is nearing a return to Supersport United.

One of the DStv premiership teams without a regular coach is SSU, which parted company with Kaitano Tembo after a streak of dismal results.
For the remainder of the season, Andre Arendse is serving as the temporary head coach of SSU.
Baxter has emerged as a leading contender for the vacant SSU head coach position.
Baxter is expected to return to the Tshwane-based side for a second term, as SSU has already drafted a contract for a new coach who will take over from the club next season.
According to a reliable insider at the club, they are aware of the coach's abilities and believe he will return because of their previous working relationship.

However, he departed to take over Bafana Bafana and "it was something we could not stand in the way of," a source claimed.

The source concluded that anything is conceivable now that Baxter is a free agent.
