End of road for Pirates star?

As a major South African football club, Orlando Pirates will always try to acquire the best players they can find that meet the team's needs. There have been many players linked to the club, but they haven't always been able to land every single one of their stated acquisition objectives.

Isaac Nhlapo, a former Chippa United defender, was a target for the Pirates, but they were unable to secure a deal. Nhlapo departed Chippa United to join Marumo Gallants in the DStv Premiership prior to the start of the 2021/22 season.

Due to the expiration of his current contract in June, Gallants have signed the 31-year-old defender to a one-year deal, placing him in a difficult position.

During the 2018/19 season, Nhlapo played in 11 league games and one Nedbank Cup match for Marumo Gallants, helping the team reach the finals, where they will face Mamelodi Sundowns. With the Nedbank Cup on the line, the Gallants are determined to defend their title.

Agent Mandla Mthembu says Isaac Nhlapo could participate in the Nedbank Cup final and should be ready to wait with the club to see whether he signs a new contract.

Marumo Gallants has signed Nhlapho to a short-term contract for the rest of the season. Prior to his injury, he was doing well and is now back in the running.
