One of Orlando Pirates former players who is a club legend has taken his expertise as a coach to Free State Stars.
Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Innocent Mayoyo has taken his expertise to Free State Stars in the GladAfrica Championship as he will be in charge of coaching the squad in the National First Division. Innocent Mayoyo was previously the coach of Free State Stars rival club in the championship, Polokwane City FC. Mayoyo joined Polokwane City FC in July 2021 and has now been appointed by Free State Stars in December 2021 which means he has shifted between two clubs in the same year as he get a chance to further develop his talent as a coach.
The former Pirates player was a legend at the Soweto-based topflight club, and his expertise as a coach has now finally paid off as he went from one former Premier league club to the next as both Polokwane City and Free State Stars has experienced topflight taste. Innocent Mayoyo will now get a chance to lead Free State Stars back to the topflight, and their current position on the GladAfrica Championship log is promising which gives them hope of winning promotion under Mayoyo's watchful eye.
Free State Stars are currently positioned 8th place on the log and Mayoyo wouldn't have to do much to get them up the log, but then again it all depends on how the players perform under Mayoyo's management. Innocent Mayoyo's appointment has been confirmed by Free State Stars boss Rantsi Mokoena.
"I can confirm we have appointed Innocent Mayoyo as the Head coach because we believe his experience will go a long way helping us clinch automatic promotion. Duncan Lechesa will remain part of the technical team as he's done a relatively good job so far - the strengthening of our bench will give us a good fighting chance", Mokoena told the media.
Innocent Mayoyo has been a great coach for Polokwane City FC, but we'll have to wait and see how good he does at Free State Stars.
