At one point when the coronavirus landed in South Africa, all sporting events were halted including the DSTV Premiership League; while the government tries to find a way around the life-threatening virus.
Now with the lockdown restrictions eased and some sporting events are back to action, the DSTV Premiership League is experiencing the worst. Clubs are losing out to give their utmost best on the pitch as some of their players are ruled out at short notice due to positive Covid test results.
Such predicaments surely disturb the planning and preparation for the next match. Amazulu head coach Benni McCarthy has confirmed that his side have been hit by three positive results of the deadly virus.
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Tshabalala, midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula and left-back Sibusiso Mabiliso have tested positive and will miss the game at Dr Molemela Stadium today at 15H30 against Coach Maduka and his troops at Bloemfontein Celtic.
McCarthy remains positive his squad can handle absences as Tshabalala, Makaula and Mabiliso self-isolate. "Unfortunately we got hit with three players testing positive and they had to be self-isolated, which distracted our plans. So when you lose three key players in your team, you have to rotate and find solutions. We hope to continue with the form we showed against Chippa when we face Celtic because they are formidable and quick," said head coach Benni McCarthy.
Another team that was hit the most was Cape Umoya. They have to quarantine the entire team due to the fact that they had some positive cases within the team; and they have been all together in the same bus and some hotel.
Head coach Head coach Roger de Sa confirmed the sad news, but however the team is out of quarantine since 03 January. and had to go for more Covid-19 testing on Monday before they can return to training.
