After Signing Kutumela And Ngobeni, This What Rulani Mokoena Had To Say

In an effort to bolster the squad for next season, the DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns recently completed the signing of Thabiso Kutumela from Maritzburg United and Sifiso Ngobeni from Bloemfontein Celtic.

Sundowns will also be campaigning in the CAF Champions League after winning the league. A squad with depth is needed to compete in the domestic and continental competitions. Sundowns coach Rulani has finally broken silence on the signing of the aforementioned players. Kutumela plays as a number 10 while Ngobeni is a left-back.

In an exclusive interview with SAfm on Monday evening, Mokoena said that Sifiso Ngobeni is an exciting prospect, even though they didn't feel the need to re-enforce at left-back.

"But sometimes there are certain things you have to do in the market, especially when a player like Ngobeni becomes available, so we had to jump into the market," he said.

He said: "Kutumela we see him as a 10. We felt we didn't have a 10 that can play as a 9 when we attack and a 8 when we are without possession. His ability to not just find but navigate space, allows him to be that 10 that can use spaces left by the movements of our centre forwards."

According to him, Kutumela is a wonderful player who is passionate about football. "The other good thing is I know the boy very well, his personality, his outlook on life, the way he looks at football. The boy is extremely passionate about the game and makes a lot of sacrifices for football. He is a profile of a player that we don't have," he added.
