Sundowns yet to collect the ball on their net.

Mamelodi Sundowns managed to return to winning ways as they restored their 4 point lead at the top of the DStv Premiership table with a 1-0 victory over Lamotville Golden Arrows on Wednesday afternoon.

Mamelodi Sundowns named Brazilian-born defender Ricardo Nascimento on the bench for the first time this season, whereas Golden Arrows were unchanged from the win over Marumo Gallants FC.

The host made the earlier promise from a well weighted corner kick 7 minutes into the game, but Nkosinathi Sibisi was only able to find the side netting from a difficult and awkward angle.

Another smart opportunity went the way of Abafana Besthende later on through Pule Mmodi’s run in from the right side but the subsequent shot flew well wide of the bottom-corner failing to trouble Onyango

The pog leaders enjoyed no cool-off from the hosts who midway through the first half saw Velemseni Ndwandwe head Mthokozisi Dube’s pin-point cross just inches wide as Denis Onyango remains unshaken. The Brazilians then started to open up nearer to halftime and could have been ahead from a loose ball around the area, but Thabiso Kutumela failed to beat Maximilian Mbaeva.

Masandawana came out firing at the start of second period with Uruguayan Gaston Sirino seeing a shot outside the area after retrieving possession go over the top.

The South American amended his missed chance just 12 minutes later through a low finish from the edge of the box following a back heel assist pass from Andile Jali.

Andile Fikizolo made his second debut for Golden Arrows as the Abafana Besthende pushed the visitors in the closing exchanges and got a chance to go level from the penalty spot as Khuliso Mudau committed a foul in the box, but Michel Gumede missed it with Sundowns still yet to concede a league goal this season.

The defending Champions maintained the latter minutes and could have added to their lead but Haashim Domingo scuppered Peter Shalulile’s layoff, with Nascimento instituted whilst 1-0 it concluded on the day.
