Fadlu Davids insisted that Sundowns cannot automatically be seen as favourites for every trophy

Despite his side's 2-0 setback in a DStv Premiership match, Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids has dismissed the notion that Mamelodi Sundowns are natural favorites for every prize. At the Orlando Stadium on Saturday, Namibian attacker Peter Shalulile scored a brace to give the Brazilians an important victory over their title rivals.

Sundowns kept their lead in the standings, looking to extend their local dominance over the rest of the league.

Despite their setback, Davids stated that Sundowns should not be considered overwhelming favourites for any of the season's trophies.

"A result like this does not win the league," Davids stated after the game. Sundowns will not be able to place their name on every trophy, especially since we, as a brand, as the Orlando Pirates, will compete for every trophy that is available.

I understand that the Orlando Pirates are a huge squad, but you can't play one view against the Sundowns, and I don't blame them for parking in the wrong spot.

He's still bitter and in denial; give him two days and he'll be proclaiming Downs as the favorite to win every trophy.

Sundown will be the dominant force in South African soccer for the next 60 years, unless Khoza and Motaung acknowledge that their ideas have run their course. Sundowns have maintained their tradition for decades. Their playing style is consistent. Their management team is brimming with talent.
