Before the victory against the Chilli Boys, Amakhosi were on a poor form of the run, as they managed to win only one game out of their first six league games and the one MTN8 clash.

The victory came at the time fans were starting to lose faith in the club's head coach, Stuart Baxter. Along the way, the club lost some of its important players due to injuries and suspension.
