Football is one of the most popular sports on earth that gives people joy and ecstasy from watching it. Our local league (Premier Soccer League) is currently one of the best in Africa and the world at large. Last weekend, we witnessed some unforgettable moments of happiness as some clubs won while other trailed behind despite having smaller odds of winning.
Below are results of the last weekend matches.
•Orlando Pirates Won Chippa Utd with 3 goals to nil.
•Baroka FC beat Sekhukhune win 1 goal to nil.
•Cape Town City lost awfully to Stellenbosch with 3 goals to nil.
•Kaizer Chiefs disappointed their fans with a deafening loss to Royal AM with a score of 4-1.
•SuperSport continue with fine form by beating Swallows 3 goals to nil.
•Mamelodi Sundowns continued their title race by defeating TS Galaxy with 3 goals to nil.
After the weekend match, some clubs played their outstanding matches yesterday, while some would play today. Lamontville Golden Arrows shared the spoils with Amazulu with a score of 2-2, while Maritzburg United struggled to beat Marumo Gallants with only 1 goal to nil.
However, the matches affected the PSL table as some clubs slipped from their previous positions. Maritzburg United went from 15th to 7th position because of the 3 points they got, while Good. Golden Arrows moved from 11th to 8th. Below is a screenshot of the current table.
My opinion is that the league is still fresh that any team can rise and become a major contender for the title aside the top 3, while the relegation threatened clubs can also finish above 10th at the end of the season. I believe that Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are the favourites to win the title if injury or any problem didn't hit them.
