Mama Joy Leaves Orlando Pirates For Royal AM - Here's Why

When it rains it pours and it looks like the Buccaneers are set for a terrible storm. The club hasn't been getting the desired results and it looks like things are about to take a turn for the worst as one of the most recognizable faces associated with the Orlando Pirates brand. This is definitely a first in South African football as we are yet to see what is considered a 'super fan' switching sides.

Mama Joy Chauke dropped a bombshell on South African football fans as she announced her new decision. She went on to explain the reasons behind her decision as she spoke to News Room Afrika. Fans took to social media to share their thoughts with the move and many were left hurt by it, however it looks like it is final and there's no turning back at this point.

Mama Joy announced her decision to leave Orlando Pirates as fan switching to Royal AM. She shared that the reason behind her decision is because of her support for Shawn Mkhize. She went on to express that she is a fan of Shawn and the fact that she fought her way into the top flight as a result of her passion for the sport.

She shared that this decision was hard for her to make and she has been a part of the club for decades. She only missed a single for Orlando Pirates in the last 20 years prior to the pandemic. Fans haven't been in the stadiums for over a years and the Buccaneers have lost staunch fans over the period. The fan who was known as 'Mgijimi' passed away.

This is definitely sad news for Orlando Pirates and it makes an end of an era. The club is yet to react to the statement, however there's no doubt that it will come as a big blow. Mama Joy had a good relationship with Dr Irvin Khoza which is definitely going to be missed by both parties. Mama Joy is officially a Royal AM fan and this was entirely unexpected and abrupt.
