OPINION: 4 Players Who Had The Best Weekend While Representing Their Countries

Last weekend was one of the most thrilling weekends in football history, with some outstanding performances and fantastic goals scored by clubs. While we wait for more matches to be played, I'd like to highlight nine players that had the best weekend.

So far, the 2022 World Cup qualification matches have been thrilling, with elite teams putting up spectacular performances. Also, teams that many predicted would not succeed wowed us with incredible performances. A total of 9 teams have confirmed their qualifying for the competition in Qatar next year. Serbia was one of the surprises, as they qualified for the tournament after defeating Portugal by a score of 2 to 1. Mitrovic netted a late goal in the 90th minute of the game to break the hearts of a talented Portugal team.

The remaining eight teams are Germany, Germany, Denmark, Brazil, Belgium, France, Croatia, and Spain. They all put in outstanding performances, but there were nine players who, in my opinion, had the best weekend because they scored and assisted.

Let's take a closer look at those individuals.

1. Kylian Mbappé

In the encounter against Kazakhstan, the 22-year-old PSG forward put in an outstanding display for his country, scoring eight goals to nil. Mbappé equaled a 63-year-old record by scoring four goals and providing one assist.

2. Harry Kane

England defeated Albania by 5 goals to zero thanks to the Tottenham Hotspur forward's three goals and one assist.

3. Gündogan

Germany's qualifying for next year's World Cup in Qatar hinged on Gündogan's performance. Yesterday, he scored two goals against Armenia.

4. Duda

Slovakia trounced Malta by 6 goals to zero, with the 26-year-old Köln attacking midfielder scoring three goals and providing one assist.
