Bafana Bafana's 23-man squad has been named by Hugo Broos who will challenge Ethiopia in 2 consecutive matches which will be played 3 days apart in the World Cup qualifiers. One South African star player unfortunately missed out on his spot as he neglected an important detail to join the Bafana squad.
Deadly PSL striker/left-winger Pule Mmodi who plays for Golden Arrows in the Dstv Premiership, could have been part of the Bafana Bafana squad who will face off against Ethiopia in the World Cup qualifiers soon. South Africa will play 2 matches against Ethiopia on October 09, and then again on October 12, just 3 days later.
Pule Mmodi has been called up in June to be part of Bafana Bafana's Cosafa Cup squad, but the Arrows player failed to make the team as he rejected the call up himself due to not having a passport for travelling purposes. His place in the sqaud was then forfeited due to this reason and surely a replacement was put in his place to fill the spot.
Pule Mmodi's luck was not over yet as he was called up again by Hugo Broos in September to represent his country in the 2 matches against Ethiopia. To represent your country on an international level is an honour for any player and could grow the market value of a player and the player's reputation as a professional football star.
Unfortunately Pule Mmodi's negligence to take care of his passport issue cost him a place on Bafana Bafana's 23-man squad again, as he had to reject for a second time as he still did not have his passport handy for travelling.
This is something he should have prioritised and treated as urgent before the call up occurred. Seeing he missed a spot for the second time, hopefully he will take care of his passport now for future use, unless he is not interested in playing for Bafana Bafana.
