Update: Bafana Striker Set For January Switch.

Mothiba is set to make the switch in January.

Striker Lebo Mothiba of the Bafana Bafana appears to be on his way to Ligue 1 rivals ES Troyes on a season-long loan deal from RC Strasbourg before the end of the transfer window.

A significant knee injury sidelined Mothiba for about two years, causing him to suffer a major setback in his career growth. He is highly regarded at the French club, but his progress has been severely hampered by the injury.

He will be given regular game time when he returns to first-team action, as the club hopes that this will allow him to restore the form and fitness that made him their focal point up front during his absence.

It has been reported by the French news outlet L'Équipe that the 25-year-old will join Strasbourg on a six-month loan deal, with the club hoping to extend his contract before he departs. There will be no option to purchase incorporated into the agreement.

The decision demonstrates their continued confidence in South African, whom they purchased from LOSC Lille in August 2018 for a sum of €4 million.

Mothiba has played in 61 games across all competitions since joining the RCSA, scoring 14 goals and registering six assists in that time.
