Crucial Month For Maluleka As Deadline Looms.

Because the time to exercise the option in his contract is approaching, the next few weeks in May will be crucial for Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder George Maluleka.

According to the Siya crew, Sundowns have until May 31 to decide whether or not they want to keep the 33-year-old midfielder for another season. This has been confirmed by the player's representative, Sean Roberts, in earlier reports.

It's been a topsy-turvy season for the former Kaizer Chiefs and Ajax Cape Town midfielder, who has recently been given the opportunity to play but has failed to do so in the club's last two DSTV Premiership matches against Sekhukhune United and Cape Town City, as well as the Nedbank Cup semi-final against Royal Amateur Football Club.

For the 12-time PSL champions, Maluleka has made a total of five appearances across all competitions. At this point, the Siya crew has been led to believe that Sundowns have not communicated with the player and his representative to determine whether or not they want to keep him beyond the end of the current season.

Maluleka's camp has indicated that Sundowns is their first choice and would wait for a response from the club before exploring other options for the club. The player is determined to play more football, but if he decides to stay at Chloorkop for another season, he may not be able to obtain as much as he desires.
