Akpeyi keeps 50th clean sheet in South Africa

KAIZER CHIEFS goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, denoted his 50th clean sheet in all contests in South Africa's associations on Sunday in their 1-0 success over Maritzburg United. 

The Super Eagles shot-plug has been amazing for the Amakhosi this season keeping four clean sheets in seven appearances in the DSTV Premier League. 

Akpeyi joined Chippa United in the 2015/16 season from Nigeria Professional Football League side, Warri Wolves. The Nigeria global kept seven clean sheets in his lady season in South Africa in 25 games across all rivalries. 

His presentation will improve the following season where he recorded 12 clean sheets in 34 games in all rivalries. The 35-year-old neglected to surrender in the three Nedbank Cup games he highlighted in before his side were taken out through punishments to Supersports United. 

The 2017/18 season saw the Nigerian keep 11 clean sheets in 25 games across all rivalries yielding only multiple times in 2.228 minutes. 

Akpeyi recorded only six clean sheets in the 2018/19 season yet his presentation for unobtrusive Chippa United had not gone unrecognized as he was gobbled up by Kaizer Chiefs as a substitution for harmed commander, Itumeleng Khune.

His first season with the Chiefs saw him keep 10 clean sheets in 25 association games as he was near aiding the side success their first homegrown title since the 2014/15 season as they missed the mark by two to Mamelodi Sundowns. 

The 2020/21 season saw the Nigerian keep 12 clean sheets in 24 appearances yielding multiple times. 

As per reports, the Nigerian is charged to sign a two-year contract augmentation with the Soweto goliaths after some great appearances this season.
