Mamelodi Sundowns have dropped two points in their second league game of the new season, thanks to a draw between them and hosts Chippa United. The Brazilians where held to a goalless draw by Gavin Hunt's boys at the Nelson Mandela Bay earlier this afternoon.
Full-time at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium! The points are shared on our first away trip of the season!
The match saw the return of Ugandan goalkeeper Dennis Onyango, who has been benched for the last two games, Zambian born Kennedy Mweene was the preferred goalie against Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 quarterfinal.
The starting eleven and the subs for the Tshwane based club excluded favourite player, Themba Zwane, who was missing. While the club has not indicated why Zwane was away for the match, Newsflash Media understands that he could have either had an injury or a suspension. Many have attributed his absence to the poor performance from the club today.
Zwane has been instrumental for the club since last season and he as continued to be the fan favourite. Sundowns are currently second in the league log, just below Chippa, who are seemingly on a good track after winning their opening match.
