An agent breaks his silence about Sundowns coach move to a top African team

Mamelodi Sundowns' technical team has to be one of the most wanted mentors in football both locally and continentally. This comes after reports stating that a top club in Africa wants the services of Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena; following the recent success of the Tshwane giants in the past couple of years in the DStv Premiership. This has made other clubs envious of their extremely talented and highly experienced technical team that has been able to deliver trophies season after season. Not so long ago, Downs’ senior coach was linked with a move to Orlando Pirates and the whole deal didn’t materialize as he’s in a long-term contract with Masandwana. Now, it’s Mokwena that’s been wanted elsewhere, even though his contract with the Brazilians ends in June 2024.

According to different sources, Simba SC in Tanzania has been hunting down the services of the former Chippa United coach as they felt that he will be a great addition to their side. This follows after Didier Gomes resigned from Simba last month and left the coaching position vacant. This is not the first time Mokwena has been linked with a superb team in Africa, since at the beginning of the year there were reports that he might move to Wydad Casablanca. However, it seems like the talks didn’t go further, especially when it came to the transfer fee and other contractual terms and conditions.

Now, the former Pirates coach’s representative Steve Kapelushnick stated that Mokwena has been getting different offers from different teams. As they want his football expertise following his impressive coaching tactics and techniques at Chloorkop. However, Mokwena still feels that he has a lot of work to do at Sundowns. “I will be honest, in the last six months or so there have been enquiries about Rulani both locally and outside of the country. The truth is that he remains committed to Sundowns,” said Kapelushnick talking to the media.
